A bride-to-be who has admitted she has reservations about asking her childhood best friend to be her maid of honour, has been slammed for the “awful” reason why.
The anonymous woman explains that her and her friend, who have known each other since they were babies, have always talked about being involved in each other’s weddings growing up.
She said: “I’m choosing my bridesmaid and really want to ask her to be my MOH (maid of honour).”
Even after the woman moved away a few years ago, the pair kept in contact despite not being able to see each other often.
But now that the time has come, the bride is having second thoughts, the Daily Star reports.
When she discovered that her friend had developed a large cavity on her front tooth, she took to Facebook to ask users: “Am I shallow for worrying how the photos will look on the big day?”
Whilst she adores her friend, she admitted: “I also don’t want to look back on pictures and have that in there or have my family judge.”
She adds: “I don’t know what to do and don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings!”
But it’s not just the bride that’s worried about the photos, her fiancé is too.
The woman added: “My fiancé is concerned too. Do I ask her and hope it isn’t noticed? Do I not ask her and risk the friendship? SOS.”
A screenshot of the post was shared on a Wedding Shaming thread on Reddit, where it received more than 120 comments.
One person said: “People like this are exactly why I’m so hung up on the idea that people everywhere are judging me for every tiny flaw.”
Another added: “I don’t give a f**k what my friends look like at my wedding. I just want them to be happy and have a good time and celebrate with me no matter what. This is awful.”
A third added: “Can’t she smile with her mouth shut?”
And: “Holy hell, it is amazing how many people forget what the wedding is actually for” said a fourth.
